CPRE’s response to the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework consultation has now been submitted. Read our response, which highlights a number of positive changes but also points out some remaining issues with the plan, via the link below.

The long-awaited revised draft Greater Manchester Spatial Framework was published in January and is open for consultation until 18th March 2019. Members who would like more information to inform their consultation response are invited attend one of a number of drop-in events taking place between Tuesday 26th February and Thursday 7th March in Stockport.

This event was hosted by our neighbours, CPRE Lancashire, in Manchester on March 26th, and brought together politicians, academics, planners and members of the public to promote discussion on the best way to achieve effective reuse of brownfield land.

CPRE’s new report makes it clear that the Green Belt is still under severe pressure across the country, but the vast majority of the planned 460,000 homes to be sited on land that is currently in the Green Belt will not be affordable.

CPRE Lancashire was delighted to host over 50 people at their public meeting about planning a green future for the Liverpool City Region on Thursday 19th July, at the Quaker Meeting House, Liverpool.

The Lancashire Branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) held a second public meeting on 20 March to discuss the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework (GMSF), currently under review.

425,000 houses now planned for Green Belt, of which more than 70% are unaffordable.
